MIUI 14 to be announced on December 1, here is everything you need to know

There is no information about the global launch of the upcoming Xiaomi devices, but the Xiaomi 13 series is expected to make it to the Indian market in Q1 next year.

On December 1st, Xiaomi will hold a new product launch event where it will release its latest flagship series, Xiaomi 13 series. At this event, the company will also unveil its new Android skin, MIUI 14. According to the company, the MIUI 14 is an ultra-pure system with “minimum firmware, minimum memory usage, and minimum non-uninstallable applications”.

According to Jin Fan, who is the head of MIUI development, the MIUI 14 will have four major upgrades. The major features include

  • Fewer system pre-installed apps
  • More practical features
  • Anew design language
  • A smoother and more stable system experience
  • MIUI14 will be 30% lighter then MIUI13

According to reports, the pre-installed apps can be reduced to as little as eight only. Users can choose to delete some pre-installed apps leaving only relevant apps such as phone calls, text messages, clocks, app stores and so on. Earlier today, Xiaomi also released the MIUI 14 Logo, with the slogan “Forge new life”.

MIUI 14 promises to bring a new, smooth and efficient user experience. MIUI 14 early adopters program started at 13:14 yesterday (November 28) and will end at 23:59 on December 28, 2022. From the perspective of the event rules, Xiaomi community users can sign up to participate in the MIUI 14 early adopter plan during the event time. The event is limited to one Xiaomi device (including but not limited to mobile phones and tablets) for registration. After successful registration, it cannot be replaced/cancelled. Be sure to confirm the device information when registering.

XIAOMI MIUI 14 EARLY ADOPTERS PLAN ACTIVITY

As we said earlier, the MIUI 14 early adopters program started yesterday. Xiaomi has released the “MIUI 14 Early adopters Program Activity Rules”. The rules of the event show that the MIUI 14 early adopters program is currently on and users have only about a month to join the event. In terms of the form of the event, Xiaomi officials will give users the opportunity to unlock based on the data reviewed by the user’s history. Users can unlock the event page during the event time to obtain experience qualifications or other rewards.

Users who have obtained the MIUI 14 development version experience qualification and the Mijia 8.0 public beta experience qualification can go to “Xiaomi Community-My-My Internal Test” to view the participating internal tests and learn how to experience them. In addition, after obtaining the MIUI 14 development version experience qualification, you need to wait patiently for the release. The push of the update will be in different batches for different models.

According to a report from MyDrivers, MIUI 14 may not include ads. The company wants to make the system attractive to users. According to the source, MIUI 14 would emphasize getting rid of bloatware and pre-installed apps. Xiaomi has already put a lot of work into this regard in MIUI 13.

Alongside these two devices, Xiaomi has also confirmed the launch of the Watch S2 smartwatch and Xiaomi Buds 4 TWS earphones.

The event will also introduce a new Wi-Fi router as well as a projector, as per the teasers shared by the company. All the new products will arrive in China on December 1. As of now, there is no word on the global launch of these devices, but the Xiaomi 13 series is expected to make it to the Indian market.

The Chinese company has shared teasers of its upcoming flagship phone. It shows that the standard model has a flat OLED display with a punch- hole display design. The cut-out placement will be similar to Samsung phones and the Xiaomi 13 series is IP68 rated for water-resistant body. It will have minimal bezels and rounded corners. It is said to feature a metal frame, which is something that the teasers are also suggesting.

While the rest of the details are yet to be officially confirmed, the leaks have already revealed most of the specifications. The Xiaomi 13 will likely be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which will be backed by 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. It could offer a 6.2-inch screen with support for 2K resolution. The AMOLED panel is expected to refresh at 120Hz.

The back camera setup could feature a 50-megapixel Sony IMX8-series camera, along with other sensors. It is expected to have support for Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for non-shaky videos. On the front, we could see a 32-megapixel camera. It may not feature a 5,000mAh battery as this one is said to have a 4,700mAh unit. The company will bundle a 120W fast charger in the box.

The device will likely ship with Xiaomi’s custom MIUI 14 OS, which is said to come with less bloatware and a more polished UI. There are chances that the company could launch a new feature similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island. The company’s China President Lu Weibing had asked users on Weibo whether users want a similar type of feature on Xiaomi phones too.
